To better able the pace of transformation in the tourism sector and to promote and empower tourism development in the country’s villages, townships and small dorpies (VTSDs).
OUR VISION
We believe the way to bring the country’s villages, townships and small dorpies (VTSDs) into the formal tourism sector is by means of: identifying, assisting, collecting, promoting and broadcasting what these VTSDs can offer. Coupled to this, we would look to ensure that they are as far as possibly, incorporated into the formal tourism routes within South Africa.
Our objective is the mandate given by the portfolio committee: the working philosophy based on the “3Rs, namely, Rebranding, Repositioning and Renewal of the tourism sector in the South African economy. In pursuing this end, the committee seeks to work with all segments and structures of civil society in an unco-optable, non-antagonistic, cooperative and reciprocate oversight approach”.
The challenge in this regard is how to be more inclusive in the tourist sector and hence promote the country’s villages, townships and small dorpies (VTSDs), and further enabling and promoting transformation within the sector.
It is the committee’s common view that the prime tourism development areas and attractions are confined to the Johannesburg-Durban-Cape Town Golden Triangle, with pockets of excellence in selected areas in other provinces.

The digital magazine will be free to all and available across the globe in a multitude of languages, this will include of mobile devices, computers, websites and PDF brochures. Our digital magazine will highlight the points of interest in the area, the local businesses within the VTSDs areas, together with the usual points of interest and accommodation facilities. A key component of the digital magazine will be its online map of the area that will link through to Google maps and enable the tourist / visitor to plan their journey and accurately and safely reach the local businesses in the VTSDs.
